An Intensive Complete Role Study Course
May 30th to June 20th, 2009
A Course for Young Professional Singers
on the beautiful island of Ischia in the Bay of Naples.
You design the program you'd like:
Choose the complete role you wish to learn; then choose a 2 or 3 week residency.
You will receive regular coachings and masterclasses and
do ensemble work on your role
with optional voice lessons.
Italian lessons are the core of our experience on Ischia, working on a daily basis in a very
informal but intense and focused atmosphere.
There is plenty of time for sightseeing, relaxing at the beach or for other pastimes,
including on- and off-island excursions!
Program Offerings:
Daily language lessons in Italian (8-9 hours weekly)
Vocal coachings on your complete role in Italian musical style and diction (3 sessions/week)
Master classes
Occasional meals in Italian with your teachers and colleagues—“total immersion”
Gala Public Concert Evenings of
Italian Operatic Arias, Scenes and American Music

Important Information
about fees, food and lodging, travel expenses
Tuition fees and the housing deposit are quoted in dollars and must be paid
before leaving the US, while balance of housing fees are to be paid in euros upon arrival.
Tuition fees are $400/week and include all Italian classes, private coaching
sessions and
master classes.
Voice lessons are available for an additional fee.
Stay in mini apartment with fully equipped galley kitchenette in a shared double
occupancy bedroom.
Rentals range from about €160/ week (to share a double room within
the
apartment) to €480 for 3 weeks. Single occupancy rooms will be at higher rates.
A housing deposit equal to one week's rent must be paid in advance in dollars along with the tuition.
Meals are the student's responsibility: There are markets,
stores, pizzerias, rosticcerias,
farmer's markets available, and of course many restaurants on
the island. (Travel expenses not included but consist of airfare, ferry and local bus pass)

Audition Requirements
This program is geared toward young professional singers and pianists
at career entry level or beyond. Exceptional graduate students or undergraduates are welcome.
Candidates may audition in person in NYC or by CD. The audition repertoire must include
two contrasting arias in Italian, and a recitative in Italian (secco or orchestral). We may also
ask you to read aloud some text that we provide in Italian and/or a written
language placement exam (to determine your approximate level of proficiency.)
An application, plus a resume, headshot and $20 fee,
must be
sent or brought to the audition.
